The Farish Street Heritage Festival Gala will be held

The Farish Street Historic Neighborhood District has provided a rich African American cultural legacy for Mississippi. It is listed on the National register of Historic Places and in its heyday served as the Mecca for educational, economic and entertainment activities. Farish Street is the place where freed slaves settled. The Farish Street Heritage Festival Board of Directors and Lee King Production will host its Inaugural Farish Street Heritage “Hall of Fame” Gala, Thursday, September 17, 2009 at The Roberts Walthall Hotel, 225 East Capitol Street, in Jackson, Mississippi at 7:00 p.m.
The 2009 Inaugural “Hall of Fame” honorees are: Dr. Albert B. Britton, Jr. (Medicine); Dr. A H McCoy (Dentistry); Attorney R. Jess Brown, posthumously (Government/Law); Mrs. Thelma L. Sanders, posthumously (Business); Willora Ephram/Peaches Restaurant (Business); Reverend James Rundles, Sr. (Religion); and The Crystal Palace (Entertainment).
